Workshop - “How to Ensure long-term Energy Security”

On January 25, 2017 the workshop - “How to Ensure long-term Energy Security” was held at the Tbilisi Rooms Hotel.  The event was organized by Rondeli Foundation, Atlantic Council of Georgia, World Experience for Georgia, Coalition for Euro-Atlantic Georgia and Georgian Civil Society National Platform for the Eastern Partnership. The meeting aimed at conducting dialogue between the civil society and public sectors on the energy security issues of Georgia.

The speakers of the meeting included Mariam Valishvili, the first Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy of Georgia, Vasil Sikharulidze, the Chairman of the Atlantic Council of Georgia and Murman Margvelashvili, the Director of the World Experience for Georgia. The meeting was moderated by Kakha Gogolashvili, the Director of the EU Studies Center at the Rondeli Foundation. 

At the beginning of the event Kakha Gogolashvili emphasized the importance of the meeting and stressed the necessity of the constructive cooperation and dialogue between the government and civil society representatives on the energy security issues of Georgia.

Murman Margvelashvili discussed the existing challenges of the energy sector of Georgia as well as the measures that are necessarily important to ensure energy security.  

Mariam Valishvili, the Deputy Minister made a brief overview on the main goals and objectives of Ministry and discussed the long-term vision of developing Georgian energy sector.

The workshop attendees included analysts, experts and representatives of the governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The meeting was followed by an ardent discussion between the speakers and the audience.
