On October 29, 2004 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies launched the training program on European Union. 26 Georgian government officials will be participating in the program. The program will last till January next year. As part of the three-month training, the program participants will learn about European institutions as well as the history of the EU.The trainees will receive the guidance on what their individual agencies can do to make Georgia a credible candidate for EU membership by making political, economic, and legal structures compatible with their European counterparts. Part of the training will focus on policy development and implementation within the offices of European Integration that were established in each Georgian ministry. The program will include lectures and discussions. At the end of the training, the participants will have an exam and will have to write a policy brief on European integration.

The training is the part of a larger GFSIS project to upgrade the Georgian government’s capacity to effectively implement policies associated with EU integration. The training is financially supported by the European Union and is implemented by the Foundation along with three partner consulting companies in Europe: Altair (Spain), BCOME (France), and the Public Administration Institute (England).
