Public Lecture on Recent Changes in the Region and Beyond

On June 21, 2011 Dr. Haim Koren, from National Defense College of Israel, gave a public lecture on Islam and Recent Changes in the Region and Beyond at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies. Dr. Koren delivered an illuminative analysis of the Middle East history, focusing on the power play in the past and the present, and analyzed a global power politics currently. After focusing on Arab spring revolutions and developments aftermath, Dr. Koren discussed the political agenda of Arab regimes and touched upon major regional players’ - Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt - possible development trends and their influence on the South Caucasus and the Central Asia. The lecture was followed by an ardent discussion on the developments in Libya, Syria and European interest in the Middle Eastern countries.
