U.S - Iran Relations Under the Biden Administration

The relationship between the United States and Iran is undoubtedly one of the most complex in the geopolitical world today. Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, they have mostly been adversarial and the relations have never recovered. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached by Iran and the P5+1 (China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States) on July 14, 2015 brought some positive hopes which were later dashed down. Over the years, interactions between the two states have had a profound worldwide impact, including on our region in the South Caucasus.

With President Joe Biden now in office, new questions are arising about the US-Iran relationship moving forward. How will relations between the United States and Iran take shape and will they lead to the reduction of tensions? These were the major topics of our discussion.
