Roundtable Discussion – „Georgia and NATO: The Last Mile“

On October 25, 2006 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies,  in collaboration with the  Georgian Security Analysis Center,  hosted an informal roundtable discussion  “Georgia and NATO: The Last Mile.” The seminar was delivered by  Mr. Lauri Almann, Permanent Undersecretary, Ministry of Defense of Estonia,  former member of International Security Advisory Board; Mr. Mart Piiskopi, Adviser to the Ministry of Defense of Estonia, and Mr. Madis Mikko, Head of the Department of Public Affairs. The discussion was attended by the representatives of Ministry of Defense of Georgia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Office of the State Minister of Georgia on European & Euro-Atlantic Integration, several Non-Government Organizations, and students interested in international relations. The topics discussed were: NATO enlargement - incentives and disincentives; Difficulties towards NATO membership (Estonian experience); and Georgia's action plan.
