The Visit of the Lithuanian Delegation

On May 29, 2007 Deputy Chairman of the Board of Seimas of Lithuania and former leader of the opposition, Mr. Andrius Kubilius and members of his delegation, as part of their official visit to Georgia, visited the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies.

Speaking to members of the Georgian non-governmental organization community in a roundtable session organized by the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies Mr Kubilius described the purpose of his visit as a fact finding mission in order to better understand the current socio-political situation in Georgia with the aim of assisting the Government in its continued transition through lessons learned from the Lithuanian experience.

Topics raised in the framework of the roundtable discussion included the current status of Georgia and Lithuania's relations with Russia, energy supply, energy security, political pluralism and Lithuania's efforts to address its immigration and unemployment problems.
