Meeting of National Experts Council

On June 22, 2007 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies hosted the second meeting of the National Experts Council, in the framework of a working roundtable - “Civil Society Participation in the European Neighborhood Policy - Regional Approach to Conflict Resolution”.  

The Council is implemented by the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies in co-operation with the Crisis Management Initiative (Brussels) and the Government of the United Kingdom. The Council brought together leading Georgian experts working on conflict resolution issues, as well as the high-ranking officials from the Office of the Georgian State Ministry on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues and the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The speakers discussed the issues like the blockade of Abkhazia, Georgia's integration into NATO and its impact on the conflict zones.

Kakha Gogolashvili, Director of European Union Studies at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies, Director of the Georgian – European Policy and Legal Advice Center; and David Chochua, Research Fellow of the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies chaired the two panels.
