Book Presentation: “In the Search of Lost Space: Politics of Art in Post-Soviet Georgia”

On December 23, 2010 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies hosted a public presentation of the new book of the Atlantic Council of Georgia“In the Search of Lost Space: Politics of Art in Post-Soviet Georgia”. The book represents a collection of essays by famous Georgian writers, journalist and art critics and provides their reflection on Georgian culture and its role in the democratization and transformation process of the country. The authors of the book, Zurab Karumidze, George Gvakharia, David Bukhrikidze, George Nijaradze and  Alexander Lortkipanidze have different focus on Georgian literature, cinema, theatre, everyday life and offer profound insights into the value of politics in art in Georgia. 

The author of the project is Shorena Lortkipanidze, program manager of the Atlantic Council of Georgia. The Norwegian Atlantic Committee provided financial support for the project. 

The book provoked a lot of interest and ignited lively discussions among the audience.  This work will become a helpful guidebook for those interested in cultural politics of Post-Soviet Georgia.
