This is a special issue of the Rondeli Russian Military Digest dedicated to the Russo-Ukrainian War, composed on the basis of numerous open sources.

Izyum Area and Donbas Area – North

Ukrainians achieved a deep breakthrough and advanced very rapidly, threatening Russians with liberation of Kupyansk as well as with potential encirclement of the Russian forces around Izyum.

Quickly advancing towards Kupyansk, Ukrainians liberated the town of Shevchenkove, and then reached the outskirts of Kupyansk itself launching the battle for this city.

Near the point of their initial breakthrough, Ukrainians liberated the city of Balakliya.

They also advanced rapidly east of Balakliya, and south of Shevchenkove and Kupyansk, liberating a large area as a result. Crucially, they took over the western side of the Oskil River between Kupyansk and Horokhovatka, cutting the primary communications of the Russian forces in Izyum.

During this advance in reported period, Ukrainians liberated dozens of villages.

Fighting also occurred south of Izyum, without major changes.
