Azerbaijan and China sign protocol on transferring prisoners

During the meeting between Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov and the Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Guo Ming, ratification documents in connection with the agreement on the transferring of prisoners between Azerbaijan and China were exchanged, and the relevant protocol was signed, APA reported on November 6.

 

Georgia’s Minister of Economy participated in Shanghai’s 4th International Import Expo

Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava participated online in the opening ceremony of the 4th International Import Expo in Shanghai, China, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reported on November 4.

The Shanghai International Import Expo has been held under the auspices of the Chinese Government since 2018.

 

China is one of Armenia’s main export destinations, Armenian Minister says

On November 6, at the How to Successfully Export to China roundtable in Yerevan, Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan presented the statistics of total exports from Armenia in the first nine months of 2021.

“Main destinations of our exports are Russia with 550 million dollars, China with 300 million dollars, Switzerland with 237 million dollars, EU countries with 500 million dollars and Iraq with 115 million dollars,” Kerobyan said.

He noted that nearly 100% of products exported from Armenia to China were minerals.

Kerobyan said that service exports to China were very little. But, he pointed to an Armenian company Digital Pomegranate as an exception, because most of the company’s clients were Chinese companies. Digital Pomegranate is a software development company focused on Flutter mobile and web development.

On October 21, at the online closing event of Huawei Armenia’s Seeds for the Future program was held, Armenpress reported on November 3. 

The Advisor to the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Vahan Hovsepyan thanked Huawei for bringing “prominent opportunity” for students in Armenia.

“I am sure Huawei is the company that achieved huge success globally and it’s really inspiring how this company has grown for the last years and I am sure this is because of the research and development investment that Huawei took on their shoulders and achieved tremendous success on technological advancement,” co-founder of Ucom and TEAM.TelecomArmenia Alexandr Yesayan said at the closing ceremony.

Yesayan thanked Huawei and the whole organizing team for making this kind of program accessible also in Armenia.

The CEO of Ucom Ara Khachatryan said that it was difficult to manage such programs in Armenia many years ago, but now the chances were many and technical companies including Huawei and Ucom were hosting such programs on the strategic level. According to Ucom, it is the fastest fixed and mobile services provider in Armenia and it occupies a key position on the Armenian mobile internet market

In collaboration with the Yerevan State University, the Yerevan National Polytechnics University and the American University of Armenia in the selection process, 20 students were selected who had the opportunity to learn about high technologies including 5G, cloud, AI.

 

The Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs participated in the 8th Global Baku Forum

The President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs Wang Chao participated in the 8th Global Baku Forum under the motto “The world after COVID-19”, Trend reported on November 4.

He thinks that the international community must make more efforts to achieve peace and stability: “I think that transparency and investments will become the main development trend.”

Wang Chao added that “China will do its best for the world order after the COVID-19 pandemic.”

 

Armenia received another batch of Chinese vaccines

Armenia received a batch of 400 000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines from China, Hetq reported on November 4.

According to the report, the Armenian Ministry of Health statement did not specify whether vaccines were purchased or donated.

 

The Chinese Ambassador and the Yerevan State University Rector discussed cooperation prospects

The Acting Rector of the Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan met with the Ambassador of China to Armenia Fan Yong, the YSU reported on November 2.

The Ambassador and the Rector discussed ways of cooperation, which would “provide opportunities for exchange programs, mutual visits of professors of the two universities, joint academic and cultural events and other programs”.

Hovhannisyan said that YSU cooperates with many Chinese universities and is ready to establish and develop new partnership relations. According to him, this will promote development of the Armenian-Chinese relations and further increase the scientific communication between the two countries. Hovhannisyan said that there were Chinese language and culture centers in the university and that students were interested in the activities of the centers.

 

Confucius Institute in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Research Center at the Anhui University held an online lecture

On October 29, the Confucius Institute at the Baku State University and the Azerbaijan Research Center at the Chinese Anhui University held an online lecture on Traditional Poetry in Chinese Literature, the Anhui University reported on November 4. The Azerbaijan Research Center was established in 2018.

Georgian Ambassador, Agriculture Minister addressed China-Georgia Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum in China

From November 5 to November 8, the Georgian Ambassador to China Archil Kalandia, along with the Embassy Envoy David Pipinashvili, participated in the events held within the framework of the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, China.

The Ambassador delivered a speech at the China-Georgia Economic, Trade, and Cultural Forum organized by the Georgian Foreign Trade Association. In his speech, Archil Kalandia noted the growing presence of Georgian products in the Chinese market.

According to Interpressnews, Georgia’s Dugladze Wine Company and China’s Fengju Group presented a joint gift product of their beverages. The two companies signed an agreement on a joint product in 2018. At the forum, Kalandia stressed the importance of cooperation between the Dugladze Wine Company and the Fengju Group, which would “help raise awareness of Georgian wine throughout China”.

The Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili greeted the audience with a video speech. According to the GHN report, Davitashvili spoke about “the importance of Georgian-Chinese relations, common cultural values and prospects for the development of trade relations within the Silk Road”.

The Ambassador of Georgia also attended and addressed a forum on the signing of a cooperation agreement between Georgian Megvineoba Khareba and the Chinese company TCC Itrading. The Ambassador spoke about the importance of establishing active direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries.

 

Business representatives from Georgia were to participate in the Xinjiang Day event, report says

On November 4, China Daily reported that the Xinjiang Day event of the China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai would be held on November 11.

According to the report, by that time, business association leaders and business representatives from several countries, including Georgia, had confirmed their participation.

Azerbaijan participated in the 4th International Import Exhibition in Shanghai, China, Azernews reported on November 12.

Products of 15 Azerbaijani companies were presented in the Azerbaijan pavilion. Azerbaijani entrepreneurs also met their foreign counterparts and discussed export issues.

According to the report, Azerbaijan’s trade representative to China Teymur Nadiroglu made a presentation on Azerbaijan’s business and investment opportunities at the conference on bilateral cooperation between the Belt and Road countries and local authorities.

 

Editor-in-chief of a Georgian news agency News Day praises the CCP

On November 13, Xinhua published a report telling how “experts and scholars from many countries positively commented” on the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

According to the report, the editor-in-chief of news agency NewsDay Georgia Avtandil Otinashvili believes that the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China had the major significance of serving as a link between past and future. According to Otinashvili, passed resolutions comprehensively summed up the reason for the CCP’s success and “will push China toward a new prosperous development, and will also have a positive, important and far-reaching influence on the future of the world”.
