Rondeli Russian Military Digest

The Battle of Ukraine, Special Issue 98, from 5 January, 15:00 to 9 January, 11:00 Kyiv Time

This is a special issue of the Rondeli Russian Military Digest dedicated to the Russo-Ukrainian War, composed on the basis of numerous open sources.

 

Svatove-Starobilsk Area and Donbas Area – North

Ukrainians pushed Russians back a little southwest from Kreminna. Battles were taking place in the area of Dibrova with the status of this village unclear.

 

Donbas Area – Northeast

A new Russian attack in the Soledar area succeeded in taking settlement Bakhmutske and the eastern part of Soledar. Russians then attacked and partly took the western part of Soledar. Later Ukrainians counterattacked retaking parts of the city. Heavy street fighting continued in western Soledar. Russians also attempted to outflank the defenders of Soledar by attacking north of this city towards Silj, and south of it towards Krasna Hora.

Between Krasna Hora and Bakhmut city, Russians entered village Pidhorodne with battles going on within the village. Very heavy battles continued on the eastern outskirts of Bakhmut.

South of Bakhmut, Russians were unable to achieve new advance in Opytne and towards Klishchiivka. Russian attacks were renewed in the direction of Dyliivka.

Donbas Area – Southeast

Fighting without major changes continued along the frontline including within Mar’inka and Pervomaiske.

 

Zaporizhzhia Area and Donbas Area – South

Russians made an unsuccessful attempt to advance towards Dorozhnyanka, south of Hulyaipole.
