Seminar for the Students of Williams College at Rondeli Foundation

On January 17, 2017 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (the Rondeli Foundation) organized a lecture for the students of Williams College. The lecture was delivered by Shota Utiashvili, the Senior Fellow and Kakha Gogolashvili, the Director of EU Studies Center at the Foundation.

The speakers made a brief overview of the political environment of modern Georgia and its place on the world map. Shota Utiashvili discussed the threats, the challenges and the geopolitical importance of Georgia. Kakha Gogolashvili talked about the historical background of relations between Georgia and the EU, touched upon the topics of European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership as well as bilateral dimension of the relations –Association Agreement, Visa liberalisation, the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and other important aspects.

The abovementioned lecture was conducted in the framework of a three-week-long internship program for the students of Williams College, interested in Georgian history, culture and politics. The scope of the program provides internship opportunities in various areas as well as includes a study visit to Georgia.

The program has been operating in different forms since 1987.
