Roundtable –"Georgian-Iranian Relations: Economic, Political and Cultural Issues"

On June 19-21, 2007 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies hosted the roundtable discussion -"Georgian-Iranian Relations:  Economic, Political and Cultural Issues".

The roundtable was organized by the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies in cooperation with the Georgian Council on Foreign Relations and the Institute for Political and International Studies (Iran). The two-day event addressed the topics of foreign policy priorities in Georgia and Iran, political relations between the two countries and prospects for co-operation in the spheres of economics, science, culture and education.

The roundtable was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and academics and experts in Eastern Studies.  The guests from Iran also included H.E. Mr. Manuchehr Mohammadi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Education and Research, and Professor Bahram Amirahmadian, of Teheran University.

Mr. Mojtaba Damirchiloo, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia assessed the discussions fruitful and hailed the positive role of round table in considering the current situation of bilateral relations between Iran and Georgia and introducing new areas of cooperation in different fields at bilateral, regional and international levels.
