Policy Briefing “Competing or complementary? The EU, Russia and Turkey in the Neighbourhood”

On October 8, the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS) hosted a Policy Briefing “Competing or complementary? The EU, Russia and Turkey in the neighbourhood”. 

The Policy Briefing was organized by the research consortium MAXCAP (“Maximizing the Integration Capacity of the European Union”), funded under the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research, in partnership with the GFSIS and CASCADE research consortium. MAXCAP features a nine-partner consortium of academic and research centers from all over Europe which investigates the consequences of current and future EU enlargements for the Union’s internal and external integration capacity. 

The speakers of the event included: Kakha Gogolashvili, Director of EU Studies at GFSIS, Boris Iarochevitch, Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Georgia, Iryna Solonenko, DAAD/OSF Research Fellow at the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt/Oder, Germany, Meltem Müftüler Baç professor at Sabanci University, Turkey and Thomas Risse, Director of the Centre for Transnational Relations, Foreign and Security Policy at Free University of Berlin. 

The policy briefing was attended by: representatives of Embassies accredited to Georgia, ambassadors, Georgian government agencies, as well as  Georgian civil society, media and expert communities.
