Study Tour for Representatives of Ethnic Minorities

30 representatives of youth from Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli participated in the Study Tour organized by Rondeli Foundation on 11-12 November 2019.   

On the first day, Giorgi Tugushi, the Deputy Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament discussed the importance of political engagement among ethnic minorities together with young people. The participants also met the representative of the Georgian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, who introduced them to educational programs related to national minorities.

The next day, a round table discussion was held at Rondeli Foundation with the leaders of youth organizations of political parties, during which participants discussed problems in their regions and their future possible cooperation with political parties. Later, Tina Gogeliani, the Head of the Department for Civil Equality and Reconciliation at the Office of the State Minister of Georgia, presented the State Strategy for Civic Equality and Integration. 

At the end of the visit, the participants met with representatives of the organizations NDI, IRI and ISFED and discussed the issues of election processes and election polls. 

The two-day study tour was held as part of the project "National Minorities in Political Processes – Engagement for Better Future", with the support and active participation of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM).
