  • Iran admitted that its military had accidently shot down the pessanger jet. Tehran has expressed regret over the incident, noting that the perpetrators will be punished;
  • President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded that Iran punish those responsible for the downing of a Ukrainian airliner, pay compensation and apologize.
  • Washington has imposed new tough sanctions on Iran which target Iran’s metal industries, and eight senior military and national security officials. In this way, Washington hopes Tehran will lose billions of dollars. 
  • The Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said Al Said who ruled the country for 50 years, died. The new sultan will be Haitham bin Tariq, who said that the country will continue to embrace foreign policies based on peaceful coexistence among peoples and countries without any interference in the domestic affairs of other states. 
  • Russia and the Assad regime launch intensive anti-subversive bombardments against opposition and jihadists in the Syrian provinces of Idlib. As a result, the Turkish military observation mission was affected, one Turkish soldier was wounded;
  • Anti-government demonstrations continue in Bagdad and some cities in the southern cities of Iraq. 
  • Libyan rebels continue to attack government forces. They occupied some areas of the capital Tripoli and nearby. Ankara calls on Moscow to put pressure on the rebels to stop the fighting.
