Across Georgian-Abkhaz conflict divide: Addressing the needs of locals (Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti)

The proposed project was conceived as one part of the parallel research programme aimed at exploring live ability on both sides of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict divide. The other part of the parallel research was conducted by the Gali (Abkhazia)-based Institute of Democracy (ID) as a separate project. The idea of the parallel research project was to create synergy in evaluating the general well-being of populations along and on both sides of the ABL, and the efficiency of the assistance programmes towards alleviating consequences of conflict.

The proposed project intended to prepare the SWOT analysis report of existing poli-cies/programmes aimed at alleviating the consequences of conflict as well as to conduct an assessment study of life satisfaction on the conflict-affected population of Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti. Based on the study GFSIS intents to elaborate Policy recommendations towards fine-tuning existing development assistance programmes and designing new policies aimed at improving quality of life of residents of Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti.
The project was implemented by GFSIS and supported by the British Embassy in Tbilisi.
