Discussion on the participation of ethnic minorities in political processes

Rondelli Foundation and the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities (HCNM) organized a round-table discussion in Tbilisi on the topic: “National minorities in political processes: problems and experience”.

Senior Advisor to the OSCE HCNM Marc Fumagalli, representatives of the media and civil society from Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti, as well as representatives of the political parties and the State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, took part in a dynamic discussion.  

The round table was held as a part of the project “National Minorities in Political Processes – Engagement for Better Future” which aims to increase the involvement of national minorities in the socio-political processes of Georgia. The project also attempts to expand the representation of national minorities in political parties and promote integration through the development of principles of democratic governance.

In the regions of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti, the project includes lectures and hands on seminars for youth and wider community. In Tbilisi, the project also aims to expand knowledge of ethnic politics, civil equality, as well as to hold a series of round tables on the issue of enhancing the political participation of ethnic minorities.
