Roundtable Discussion - "Crossroads of the Caucasus"

On April 30, 2015 the Georgian Foundation for Stretegic and International Studies (GFSIS) hosted a roundtable discussion - Georgia: Crossroads of the Caucasus. The event was organized in partnership with the Caspian Strategy Institute (Istanbul, Turkey).  

Representatives of the Georgian expert community, relevant governmental agencies, foreign embassies and international organizations attended the roundtable.

The opening remarks were made by Kakha Gogolashvili, Director of the Centre on EU Studies at GFSIS and Haldun Yavas, the Secretary General of the Caspian Startegy Institute.  

During the first panel, the speakers: Liana Jervalidze, an energy expert from Orbeliani Center for Strategic and Energy Policy Studies, Dr. Fatih Macit, Senior Fellow and Emin Akhundzada, Academic and Research Coordinator at the Caspian Strategy Institute discussed the role of energy projects in cooperation between Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan.  

The second session was dedicated to the opportunities of trilateral transportation links between the partner countries. Panel speakers representing the Transport Department of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Okan University of Turkey discussed Georgia’s role in transportation through the Middle Corridor.  

Both roundtable sessions were followed by an engaging discussion.
